In the future, Google Earth will support all Chromium browsers, including Microsoft Edge.

Various Google services have either not functioned or displayed prompts advising users to replace Microsoft Edge lately.

In April, Google Meet stopped supporting Microsoft Edge, although the company said that they are planning to support the new version of Microsoft Edge.

In a blog post, Thomas Nattestad, Google Chromium's Product Manager for Web Assembly, V8 and Web, explained that Google Earth formerly worked using Native Client technology, which is unique to Google Chrome browser.

The company is adding support for WebAssembly for Google Earth, which will enable it to work across various browsers.

Facebook is looking to change the landscape of financial services worldwide and this past Tuesday, a remarkable progress was made when the company revealed its Libra cryptocurrency and Calibra digital wallet. Facebook’s goal is to enable over 1.7 billion people, without bank accounts, across the globe to take part in financial activities.

As revolutionary as it can be, a significant part of human population would not be able to take advantage of this digital payments service.

A Calibra spokesperson revealed to TechCrunch that the wallet will not be available in the countries that are sanctioned by U.S. or have banned cryptocurrencies. Custodial Wallet Providers will decide where the service will be available and where it won’t be.

This apparently means that Facebook’s biggest market, India will be among the countries where this service will be unavailab…

Gmail Might be Coming Out with a Dark Mode

Image
Gmail Might be Coming Out with a Dark ModeOne of the latest trends that has been going around apps that people tend to use quite frequently is the addition of a dark mode. A dark theme is basically a mode within the app that will darken all of the colors, turning the viewing experience into something that will end up having far less of a strain on your eyes all in all. A lot of tech companies have become concerned with how often their apps are being used, and how the light from phones is affecting sleeping patterns around the world. In order to make an app less likely to have an impact on how well you are able to sleep at night, using a dark mode might just be the best thing that you can end up doing in this regard.

Gmail has been one of the last remaining apps with a high degree of popularity that doesn’t yet offer a dark mode, but all of that might be changing according to the experiences of a few users that have seen the dark mode in effect and although it is currently only working …

Google and Cloudflare join hands to find the best post-quantum algorithmQuantum computing is anticipated. However, when it commercializes, it can change the face of the technology and its security protocols that we use today.

Now, an Internet infrastructure company, Cloudflare has joined an effort to come up with new “post-quantum” algorithms that will enhance today’s security protections.

Cloudflare is currently testing new methods in collaboration with Google Chrome to determine the practices most suitable for the real world. It recently released an open-source software package called CIRCL – the Cloudflare Interoperable Reusable Cryptographic Library that would allow anyone to evaluate the post-quantum encryption progress.

The moves will not fix internet encryption but will enhance the privacy and security on the World Wide Web after the implementation of quantum.

Cloudflare also has plans to quantum-proof TLS, the encryption technology previously called the SSL. This technology wa…

Facebook and eBay Asked to Regulate Fake Reviews on their Site before they are Fined

Facebook and eBay Asked to Regulate Fake Reviews on their Site before they are FinedThe competition regulators have asked Facebook and eBay to shutdown users that are buying fake reviews and misleading consumers.

From November 2018 to June 2019, more than 100 eBay listings that bid fake reviews were identified by the Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA).

It also found 26 Facebook groups from where people could be hired to write paid reviews on various shipping and review sites.

According to CMA, 75% of the UK e-commerce customers check online reviews before buying anything. This means that round billions of pounds are spent by consumers by trusting reviews.

This not only misguides people about a certain product but also illegal as per consumer law.

CMA clarified that they are not blaming Facebook or eBay directly, but they should look into the content of their sites and regulate it.

CMA said that if the issue continued, they will look for other ways to control it, like imposing fin…

A Weird Bug on Twitter was Recently Found Notifying Users Whenever Someone had Unfollowed them! For nearly 2 weeks, various Twitter users had been complaining about a strange bug due to which they were receiving notifications upon being unfollowed by a follower, but with a twist!

The notification incorrectly said that the user had “followed them” instead of stating the obvious. Even after receiving a notification that “XYZ followed you”, it was easy to figure out that the user had actually unfollowed you. VICE staff writer Marie Solis claimed that she tried testing it both ways and succeeded both in getting the notification upon being unfollowed as well as alerting the user she had unfollowed.

Several users then followed the trail but didn’t succeed. Thus, it was assumed that the bug wasn’t affecting everyone, or those who had notifications disabled for the Twitter app.

It’s a well-known fact that Twitter notifies a user every time someone follows them or likes their tweet or retweets i…

Hangouts On Air Will Soon be Unavailable on YouTube, Confirms GoogleBy the end of this year, G Suite customers will no longer be able to use Hangouts, and consumer accounts will be transferred to Hangouts Chat and Meets. Along with this, Hangouts On Air will also be leaving as this year ends.

Hangouts On Air was initially a feature of Google+ and then was integrated with YouTube. Many users can video chat simultaneously through Hangouts, which can be live-streamed on YouTube.

Google has started notifying users about the discontinuation of Hangouts On Air and the alternate way for fast and easy streaming suggested by the company is Youtube.com/webcam.

One drawback of using YouTube webcam in place of Hangouts On Air is that it supports one camera only, which means multiple users can not take part in the video at a time. The other possible option could be setting up the Live Control Room, using an encoder that allows streaming live.
Along with this, Hangouts Meet is also available that al…
